today's the first friday mass for the month of October in St. Joseph's church and it is our choir group's turn to sing. we have been practicing several tagalog songs prior today and so far, we rendered a good performance. after the mass, anna joked about going to our place with josie so that they could have lunch. i told them, we had no food at home as i am not sure whether we have stock of food in our refrigerator. however, upon reachinghome i found out that we have this ready-to-cook cake mix! i texted the two of them and invited them over so we could bake the cake. only josie replied.
i have thawed some shrimps and dipped them into the tempura mix and fried. something new from our usual viand of sinigang, tinola or beef strips... hehe. we have a tummy-filling lunch! the only thing missing is the japanese soy sauce. anyhow, the shrimps taste good.
josie and her cousin came over after lunch. josie have downloaded songs during our choir practice into my laptop. at the same time, i tried to open our oven. actually, it was my first time to use the oven so i had to figure out how to lit it up. i was able to light up the lower burner but not the upper portion. anyway, it's still a major accomplishment! haha. i then, mixed up the cake batter putting milk instead of water to make it creamier. naks, may nalalaman pa daw na creamier! hihihi.
i poured the batter in a baking dish and placed it inside the oven at 180 degrees Celsius. it was weird because after about 30 minutes the sides of the cake was alerady cooked but the middle part was still watery?? i added 15 minutes more baking time before deciding to put it out of the heat. after it has cooled down a bit, i placed the cake upside down a big plate. viola! the cake was toasted!!! naah.. almost brown! hahaha. i removed the toasted portions and just placed chocolate icings on the surface. =) ma-abilidad di ba? ;P so the cake was served without them seeing that it was actually kinda toasted in the first place. as for the taste, it's still better than the cake sold at Carrefour! =) however, the fudgy texture is missing. anyhow, i will just have to try baking again until i got it right.
